About the Herringbone Double Crochet stitch
You know what makes the herringbone double crochet so special?
It creates these beautiful slanted lines that all flow in the same direction, just like the classic herringbone pattern you might see in tweed fabric!
It’s a really clever variation of the regular double crochet that makes a denser, more sophisticated-looking fabric, but still drapes beautifully for garments and scarves.
Once you get the hang of it, you might want to explore other members of the herringbone family, like the half double and treble versions – each one creates its own unique slanted texture.
And here’s a fun tip: working it in contrasting colors really makes those diagonal lines stand out and shows off the stitch pattern beautifully!

Is there a stitch repeat? I find that a 72 ” scarf is too long for my 5’2″ body. ๐
Hi Diana! Great Question. The answer is no- you can chain as many as you want you scarf length to be- Hope this helps! Sandra
