How to style a wide crochet scarf?

Wide, cozy crochet scarves are having a major moment, and it’s easy to see why.

These plush, oversized accessories add an instant dose of warmth and coziness to any outfit. But beyond just keeping you toasty, a beautiful crochet scarf can elevate your look in so many ways.

Try loosely draping it around your neck for a casual-cool vibe, or go for a more structured look by folding it in half and wrapping it around twice.

For a chic, minimalist feel, let the ends hang straight down.

Or get creative and tie the ends in a knot or bow in the front.

The options are endless! No matter how you style it, a luxurious crochet scarf is sure to become your new fall and winter wardrobe staple

Notes

  • This pattern is written in US terms
  • The pattern is worked in rows
  • Ch3 does count as st at the beginning of each row
  • This pattern uses pattern repeats.
  • You can work this pattern with one color or multiple as you wish- I used two colors
  • If changing colors make sure to have a changing technique and weave your ends in.
  • You can decide on the width and length of the scarf by adding chains and rows
  • This pattern calls for chain multiples of 6+2

Instructions

Chain 48+2

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, Sc in next ch, and in every ch across to end of row (49)

Row 2:  Sc in 1st st from hook, *[Ch 2, skip next 2 st (Dc + Ch 2+ Dc ) in next st, Ch 2, skip next 2 st, Sc in next st ]* repeat from * to * across, turn work

Row 3: Ch4 (counts as tr, skip next Ch 2 space, *[2Dc puff st, Ch 1, 2 Dc puff st, Ch1, 2Dc puff st in next Ch 2 space, Ch 1, skip next 2Ch space]* repeat from * to * across, ending the last repeat at next 2Ch space, Tr in last Sc from prev row, turn work

Row 4: Ch1, Sc in 1st Tr, Ch1, (Sc in next, Ch1) repeat  in each Ch 1 space from prev row across to last turning Ch, Sc in 4th Ch of turning Ch, turn work

Row 5: Ch3 (counts as 1st Dc), Dc in next Ch 1 space, (Ch 1 + Dc ) in each Ch 1 space across to last Ch1 space, Dc in last Sc, turn work

Row 6: Ch 1, Sc in 1st st from hook, Sc in Ch 1 space, Sc in next st and across to end of row, turn work

Row 7: Ch3 (counts as 1st Dc), Dc in next Ch 1 space, (Ch 1 + Dc ) in each Ch 1 space across to last Ch1 space, Dc in last Sc, turn work

Row 8: Ch 1, Sc in 1st st from hook, Sc in Ch 1 space, Sc in next st and across to end of row, turn work

Rows 2-8 are the repeat pattern for this entire Shawl

I made 19 repeats 🙂

I changed colors after 13 repeats.

Finishing

You can add more repeats to make a longer Scarf

You can also add fringe or tassels

Cut your yarn and weave in the ends.

I recommend blocking the finished Shawl before wearing it!
