How To Crochet the V stitch Beanie Crochet Pattern?
This hat is worked bottom up- in rounds.
We first make the brim flat, and close it to a circle.
Then work around the body of the beanie.
Last we decrease stitches for the crown.

Stylecraft Special Chunky, 100 gr, 100% Premium Acrylic. 144 m / 157 yards, shade: watermelon, 64 gr approx 110 yards

Hook: US Size I-9 (5.5 mm)
Yarn Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape
Gauge
- 12 st X 7 rows ( v St) 4” X 4”
Sizes
- This sample is 8” tall X 20” circumference
Stitch Key
- Ch = Chain
- Sc = Single Crochet
- St = Stitch
- Dc = Double Crochet
- Yo = Yarn over
- Slst = Slip stitch
Specialty Stitch
V Stitch = ( dc 1 +ch 1+dc 1) in same st, skip 2
Blosc = Back loop only Single Crochet: Insert hook into the next st (but only in the back loop). YO, pull back through that st (2 loops on hook), YO, pull through all 2 loops on hook.
Dc2Tog = Double Crochet 2 together: Yo, insert hook into stitch indicated, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops (first leg made), yo, insert hook into next stitch indicated, draw up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops (second leg made), yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
Notes
- This pattern is written in US terminology
- This pattern is worked in rows and rounds
- Ch3 does count as st at the beginning of each row
- Ch1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch
- This pattern uses pattern repeats.
Instructions
Brim -Chain 8
Row 1: Sc1 in 2nd st from hook, sc 1 in next stitch and across to end of the row, ch 1, turn (7)
Row 2: Blosc in 1st st from hook, blosc in next and across to end of row, ch 1, turn (7)
Row 3 – 54: repeat row 2 (7)
Fold the work in half and join working a sl st to form a circle.
Hat body – work in rounds
Round 1: Ch 1, sc 1 in 1st st from hook, sc 1 in next and around, sl st to 1st st to close the round 54)
Round 2: Ch 4 ( dc +ch1) in 1st st, dc 1 in same st (1st Vst), skip 2 st, *[V st in next, skip 2 st]* repeat from *to* to last 2 st, slst to 3rd ch of ch 4 at the beginning of round. (54) 18 V ST
Round 3: Slst to ch 1 space, (ch 3 +dc 2) in ch 1 space, dc 3 in next ch 1 space and around in each ch 1 space, slst to 3rd ch of ch 3 at the beginning of round. (54) 18 CLUSTERS
Round 4: Slst to 2nd dc of 1st dc 3 cluster, (ch 3 +ch 1+ dc 1) on top of 2nd dc from prev row cluster, skip 2 st, *[V st on top of 2nd dc from prev cluster, skip 2 st]* repeat to end of round, slst to 3rd ch of ch 3 at the beginning of round. (54) 18 V ST
Round 5: Slst to ch 1 space, (ch 3 +dc 2) in ch 1 space, dc 3 in next ch 1 space and around in each ch 1 space, slst to 3rd ch of ch 3 at the beginning of round. (54) 18 CLUSTERS
Round 6: Slst to 2nd dc of 1st dc 3 cluster, (ch 3 +ch 1+ dc 1) on top of 2nd dc from prev row cluster, skip 2 st, *[V st on top of 2nd dc from prev cluster, skip 2 st]* repeat to end of round, slst to 3rd ch of ch 3 at the beginning of round. (54) 18 V ST
The crown – we will decrease stitches
Round 7: Ch 1, sc 1 in 1st st, sc 1 in each st around to end of round, slst to 1st st (54)
Round 8: Ch3, dc 1 in next 2 st, *[dc2tog in next st, dc 1 in next 3 st]* repeat from *to* , finish with dc2tog in (last st + ch3), this closes the round ( 11 dc2tog)
Round 9: Ch3, dc 1 in next st, *[dc2tog in next st, dc 1 in next 2 st]* repeat from *to* , finish with dc2tog in (last st + ch3), this closed the round ( 11 dc2tog)
Round 10: Ch3, *[dc2tog in next st, dc 1 in next st]* repeat from *to*, finish with dc2tog in (last st + ch3), this closes the round ( 11 dc2tog)
Round 11: Ch3, *[dc2tog in next st]* repeat from *to*, finish with dc2tog in (last st + ch3), this closes the round ( 11 dc2tog)
Finishing
Sew using the tapestry needle around to close the hole, Secure yarn, weave in ends and cut yarn.
Optional: Add a pompom
