Favorite Crochet Washcloth Pattern – Barcelona

crochet washcloth pattern - Barcelona

Barcelona if one of my favorite cities in the world! So This is a favorite crochet washcloth pattern that has the style of the ancient city.

When I designed this crochet washcloth I was traveling Spain . You cannot stay the same after experiencing so much beauty right? The shells of the washcloth represent the gothic quarter of the city and also reminded me of the Alhambra in Granada.

So to give it forward this pattern is now part of the From Us to You Crochet Donation Challenge

What yarn to use for a crocheted washcloth

The best yarn for crocheted washcloths should be:

  • Absorbent: It should be able to soak up water effectively.
  • Durable: It should be able to withstand frequent washing and drying without falling apart.
  • Soft: It should be gentle on your skin.

Here are some of the best yarn choices for crocheted washcloths:

  • 100% cotton yarn: This is the most popular choice for washcloths because it meets all of the criteria above. It is absorbent, durable, and soft. There are many different brands and types of cotton yarn available, so you can find one that fits your budget and preferences.
  • Cotton blend yarn: A cotton blend yarn is a good option if you want a yarn that is a little bit softer than 100% cotton. Look for a blend that has a high percentage of cotton, such as an 80/20 cotton/polyester blend.
  • Scrubby yarn: Scrubby yarn is a synthetic yarn that is designed to be extra absorbent and durable. It is a good choice for dishcloths that you will use for heavy-duty cleaning. However, scrubby yarn can be rough on the skin, so it is not recommended for washcloths that you will use on your face or body.
  • Linen yarn: Linen is a natural fiber that is even stronger than cotton when wet. This makes it a great choice for dishcloths, which will see a lot of wear and tear. However, linen can be a bit rough on the skin, so it may not be the best choice for washcloths that you will use on your face or body.

Weight:

The weight of the yarn refers to its thickness. Worsted weight yarn is the most common weight for washcloths, but you can also use DK weight or sport weight yarn.
