Quick answer: This wrap is worked flat in rows using super bulky (#6) yarn and a simple 2 row repeat pattern, finished at 14 inches wide and 62 inches long before fringe, easy enough for a confident beginner.

Let’s get to the pattern, shall we? Making a Chunky Wrap

Materials

Yarn Bee True Colors, #6 Super Bulky, 142gr, 100% Acrylic, 76 yards, 70 m , 1 skein (used 50 yards), color Ivory (Color A)

Vogue with love #6 super bulky, color Maroon, 1 skein (Color B)

Vogue with love #6 super bulky, color Blush Pink, 1 skein (Color C)

Hook: US Size N-15(10 mm) 

Yarn Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape

Gauge

This sample is: 14” wide and 62”  without fringe

Stitch Key

• Ch = Chain
• Sc = Single Crochet
• Dc = Double Crochet
• Hdc = Half Double Crochet
• Tr = Treble Crochet
• St = Stitch

Notes

• This pattern is written in US terms
• The pattern is worked in rows
• Ch3 does count as st at the beginning of each row
• This pattern uses pattern repeats.
• You can work this pattern with one color or multiple as you wish- I used three colors
• If changing colors make sure to have a changing technique and weave your ends in.
• You can decide on the width and length of the scarf by adding chains and rows
• This pattern calls for Chain multiples of 5+3

Sandra’s Tip: Since this pattern calls for chain multiples of 5 plus 3, if you want a wider or narrower wrap than shown here, keep your starting chain to that same multiple. It’s the easiest way to resize this pattern without throwing off the row repeat.

Instructions

Chain 120 +3

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, Dc1 in each 3 chains,*[ Ch 1, Skip 1,  Dc1 in each next 4 chains]* repeat from * to * across to the end of row, Dc in last ch, turn work

Row 2:  Ch 1 (does not count as st) Sc in 1st st from hook, *[Ch4, skip next 4 DC, Sc1 in next ch space from prev row]* repeat from * to * across, end with Sc  in 3rd ch from turning cj, turn work

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as Dc), Dc  4 in next  ch space from prev row, *[Ch 1, Dc 4 In next Ch space]* repeat from * to * across, ens with Dc in last Sc, turn

Rows 2-3 are the repeat pattern for this entire Blanket Wrap

I made  10 repeats changing colors every two repeats 🙂

Finishing

You can add more repeats to make a wider Wrap

You can also add fringe or tassels – I added Fringe.

Cut your yarn and weave in the ends.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this pattern actually beginner friendly? Yes. It only uses double crochet, single crochet, and chains, no complicated stitches, and the same two rows repeat for the entire wrap once you’re past row 1.

How much yarn do I need for a longer or wider wrap? Since this pattern uses chain multiples of 5 plus 3, add yarn proportionally to however many extra multiples you add to your starting chain. A gauge swatch will help you estimate more precisely for your yarn.

Can I use a different yarn weight? You can, but your finished size and yarn amounts will change. This pattern is designed around super bulky (#6) yarn specifically for a fast, plush result.
