Crochet Hat Sizes Chart
Working a crochet granny slouchy hat for you? A child? teens maybe?
This is a slouchy style hat so it does not really matter if it is a bit bigger.

Let’s get to the pattern, shall we? Making a Granny Slouchy Hat
Materials
Cygnet Chunky #5 (100% Superior Acrylic; 100g, 156 m) 1 skein
Hook: US Size H-8 (6 mm)
Yarn Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape
Gauge
- not relevant
Sizes
This sample is 8” in height and 23” in circumference
Stitch Key
- Ch = Chain
- Sc = Single Crochet
- Dc = Double Crochet
- Hdc = Half Double Crochet
- Tr = Treble Crochet
- St = Stitch
Notes
- This pattern is written in US terms
- Ch 3 at the beginning of the row does count as a stitch
- Ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch
- This pattern is worked top down in one piece and in rounds
- You can work this pattern with one color or multiple as you wish.
Specialty Stitches
FpDc = Front Post Double Crochet [Yo, insert hook under the post of next st, yo, draw up a loop (3 loops on hook), yo, draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook), yo, draw through last 2 loops on hook]
Instructions
We start with a classic granny square
Chain 4 slst to 1st to form a circle or start with a magic circle.
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in circle, *ch 2, dc3 in circle, repeat from* 2 more times, ch 2, sl st in 3rd ch of initial ch 3 to join round.
Round 2: Sl st to next ch 2 space, *[dc3 + ch2+dc3 in ch2 space]* repeat 3 more times, sl st in 3rd ch of initial ch 3 to join round.
Round 3: Sl st to next ch 2 space, (dc3 + ch2+dc3) in ch2 space, ch 1, *[dc 3 in next ch1 space, ch1, (dc3+ch2+dc3) in the corner]* repeat 3 more times, sl st in 3rd ch of initial ch 3 to join round.
Round 4+6: repeat round 3 increasing the( dc 3+ ch 1) between each corner
Now we stop increasing our square and transform it into a circle
Round 7: Sl st to next ch 2 space, dc 3, *dc 3 in next ch 1 space, repeat to next corner, dc 3 in ch 2 space, dc 3 in next ch 1 space, repeat around, working dc 3 clusters in ch spaces with no ch 1 in between, sl st in 3rd ch of initial ch 3 to join round.
Round 8-13: repeat round 7

The Brim
Round 14: Ch 1, sc 1 in 1st st from hook, sc 1 in next and around to end of round, sl st to 1st sc to join round.
Round 15: Ch 1, dc 1 in 1st st from hook, dc 1 in next and around to end of round, sl st to 1st dc to join round.
Round 16+17: Ch 3, Fpdc in next st, Fpdc in next and around to end of round, sl st in 3rd ch of initial ch 3 to join round.
You can add more Fpdc rounds for a wider brim
Finishing
Cut your yarn and weave in the ends.
