Why is this pattern labeled intermediate level?

It looks so simple right? you are absolutely on track! This is a very simple beanie pattern , but I used three special stitches to give it more texture and personality!

This Banana cinnamon beanie has a super amazing edge, using the reversed single crochet stitch that gives it a clean and fun style

Project-Level-Intermediate

Materials

100% Acrylic Material- 100 gr, 5-strand Dyed Milk Cotton- not labeled – 0.5 skein (made in China), WPI ( #3)

Hook: US Size (5.00 mm)

Yarn Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape

Gauge

  • 12 st X 10 rounds ( 4โ€ X 4โ€)

Sizes

This sample is 21โ€ in circumference  and 8โ€ in height  ( womenโ€™s size)

Stitch Key

Specialty Stitches

X st = Cross Double Crochet

(Skip next st, dc 1 in next st, dc 1 in skipped st)

BloSc = Back Loop Only Single Crochet stitch  (Insert hook into the next st (but only in the back loop). YO, pull back through that st (2 loops on hook), YO, pull through all 2 loops on hook.)

Rsc = Reversed Single Crochet

Insert the hook, from front to back, in the next stitch to the right, (going backward) Yarn over (yo) draw a loop, and finish the single crochet

Notes

  • This pattern is written in US terminology
  • This pattern is worked in rounds
  • Ch 3  at the beginning of the row does count as a stitch
  • Ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch
  • I used  this gorgeous acrylic yarn, you can use any weight #3 yarn
  • You can work this pattern with one color or multiple as you wish.

Instructions

The Crown 

Chain 4, Slst to 1st ch to form a circle or use the magic circle method

Round 1: Ch 3, Dc 11` more st into the circle, Slst to Ch 3 to close the round (12)

Round 2: INC Ch 3, dc1 in same st, dc 2 in next st and around to end of round, Slst to Ch 3 to close the round (24)

Round 3: INC Ch 3, *dc 2 in next st, dc 1 in next st,  repeat from * to end of the round, Slst to Ch 3 to close the round (36)

Round 4: INC Ch 3, dc 1 in next st, *dc 2 in next st, dc 1 in next 2 st,  repeat from * to end of the round, Slst to Ch 3 to close the round (48)

Round 5: INC Ch 3, dc 1 in next 2 st, *dc 2 in next st, dc 1 in next 3 st,  repeat from * to end of the round, Slst to Ch 3 to close the round (60)

Round 6: Ch 1, Blsc in 1st st from hook and around in every st to end of round, Slst to 1st st to close the round (60)

The Body

Round 7: Ch3, Xst in next, Xst around to last st, dc 1 in last st, Slst to 1st st (60)

Round 8: Ch1, sc 1 in 1st st, sc 1 in next and around, Slst to 1st st (60)

Round 9-18: Repeat rounds 7+8

Round 19: Ch 3, dc 1 in next st and across to end of the round, Slst to 1st st

Round 20: Ch 1, sc1 in 1st st from hook, Rsc in next and around to end of round, Slst to 1st st.

Finishing

Secure the yarn, weave in the ends, and cut the yarn.
