Bloom Crochet Coaster Pattern

This Bloom Crochet Coaster pattern is our first one in the Spring Crochet Coasters Crochet-Along.

It’s a soft, floral-inspired design that’s quick to make and just pretty to have around. I used cotton yarn for mine, but anything you have in your stash will work fine.

It’s the kind of project that doesn’t take much time or yarn but still feels special, great for your coffee table, as a little gift, or just for fun.

I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did…

What Yarn Should You Use for Coasters?

I like to use cotton yarn for coasters because it’s absorbent, holds its shape well, and handles a hot mug without any trouble. Plus, it’s easy to wash, always a bonus if you actually use your coasters (which I hope you do!).

You can also use cotton blends, something like a cotton-linen or cotton-bamboo mix. These are still sturdy but often feel a bit softer or have a different texture, which can be fun to play with.

I recommend avoiding anything really stretchy or fuzzy, like acrylic or mohair, since those tend to pill, melt under heat, or not lay as flat.

This is a great little project to shop your stash, too, just make sure the yarn is smooth and durable enough to hold up to regular use.
