Let’s get to the pattern, shall we? Making the Granny Hexagon Slippers Socks
Materials
Stylecraft Special Chunky Yarn, 100% premium Acrylic, 100gr, 144 m, 157 yards in two colors (total of 200 yards)
Or any weight #5 yarn you decide
Hook: US Size (6 mm)
Yarn Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape
Gauge
- 14 st X 5 rounds (granny hexagon)
Sizes
- This sample is women M size (10 “ sole length and 10” height
Stitch Key
- Ch = Chain
- Sc = Single Crochet
- Dc = Double Crochet
- Hdc = Half Double Crochet
- INC – Increase
- St = Stitch
Specialty Stitches
GrSt = Granny Stitch ( Dc 3 in next ch space, Ch1)
Notes
- This pattern is written in US terminology
- Ch3 does count as st at the beginning of each row
- Ch1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch
- This pattern uses pattern repeats.
- You can work this pattern with one color or multiple as you wish- I used two solid colors
- If changing colors make sure to have a changing technique and weave your ends in.
Instructions
Granny hexagon – Make 2
Chain 4 slst to 1st to form a circle or start with a magic circle.
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in circle, *ch 2, dc 3 in circle, repeat from* for a total of 6 3 dc clusters, ch 2, sl st in 3rd ch of initial ch 3 to join round.
Round 2: Sl st to next ch 2 space, (ch3 +dc2+ ch2+dc3 in ch2 space), *ch1, (dc3+ch2+dc3) in next ch 2 space repeat * for a total of 6 corners with ch 1 space between them, sl st in 3rd ch of initial ch 3 to join round.
Round 3: Sl st to next ch 2 space, (ch3 +dc2+ ch2+dc3 in ch2 space), ch 1, dc 3 in next ch 1 space, ch 1 (dc 3 + ch2+dc3 (corner)) in next ch 2 space, continue around working a dc 3 cluster in every ch1 space and a corner in every ch 2 space, sl st in 3rd ch of initial ch 3 to join round,
Round 4-7: repeat round 3 working a dc 3 cluster in every ch1 space and a corner in every ch 2 space, sl st in 3rd ch of initial ch 3 to join round
You can change colors every round or at any round I used two colors and changed at round #5
For a larger size work more rounds, for a smaller size use a lighter yarn and smaller hook size and work fewer rounds
Construction
Fold the hexagon with the wrong side inside to form an L shape.
Slst to close the slipper leaving the upper part open.
The Toe
Introduce yarn, ch 1, sc 1 in 1st st, sc 1 in next, and in every st around, Slst to 1st, repeat a second round of sc.
Using the tapestry needle, sew and pull the yarn on the point part of the slipper to form a round point, ( this will be the toe) secure the yarn, weave in ends, and cut the yarn.

Finishing
Introduce yarn to the upper open part of the slipper.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc 1 in 1st st and around on each st, slst to 1st st
Round 2: Ch1, dc 1 in 1st st from hook and around on each stitch Slst to 1st st
Round 3: Ch 1, sc 1 in 1st st and around on each st, slst to 1st st
Optional: Chain 10 and slst to last st to form a hanging loop ( you can use this as a stocking for Christmas!)
