This strip is my contribution to the blanket. I chose this stitch combination for a fun and easy textured strip.

The blanket is made out of 12 different strip patterns that are worked on top of each other (no joining or sewing here!). A final border is then worked around the blanket.

• Each section’s instructions is accompanied by step-by-step photo tutorials. Some also have charts and videos for the different stitches featured.

My contribution is a super easy textured strip.

How does the Tranquility Blanket CAL work?

This is a crochet along hosted by Agat from Made by Gottie and Shannon from The Loophole Fox

Every Monday and Thursday starting October 14th, 2024 a new strip for the blanket will be released in the main blog post HERE ( Note no Free PDF download)

How to work this Blanket

This blanket pattern was designed as one piece with all designers working together to create one blanket that requires absolutely no seaming.

This means that each part of the blanket is crocheted right on top of the previous part, just like if you were crocheting a “normal” lanket.

Between each part are two transition rows, which break up the parts so they can all shine with gorgeous texture. You will work these two transition rows after each part of the blanket except Part

After Part 12, we will place a border and these transition rows will not be needed.

You Decide

Decide which size of blanket you’d prefer to make prior to starting this pattern.

For the Lapghan, you will:

● Begin Part 1 with the indicated starting chain requirement for Lapghan.
● Choose 10 of the 12 Parts to include in your blanket.
● Crochet the 10 chosen Parts in order with Transition Rows between each Part as instructed.
● Once all 10 Parts are complete, continue to the border instructions.

For the Throw, you will:

● Begin Part 1 with the indicated starting chain requirement for Throw.
● Crochet all 12 Parts in order with Transition Rows between each Part as instructed.
● Once all 12 Parts are complete, continue to the border instructions.
Once the border is complete, you can cut yarn and weave ends.

Let’s get to the pattern, shall we? Making the 10th Strip for the Tranquility Blanket

Difficulty

Materials

Medium (4) Worsted Weight yarn. We used Sirdar Country Classic Worsted. This is yarn is
50% wool and 50% acrylic.

Please note, Worsted Weight is the thinner of the two Medium (4)
weights of yarn. If you use an Aran (or heavier Medium 4), your blanket will be larger than stated.

Part 10 – Color A, Golden
○ Lapghan: 112 gr / 244 yds / 224 m
○ Throw: 140 gr / 305 yds / 280 m

Total amount of yarn needed for the whole project
Lapghan: 1,567 gr / 3,412 yds / 3,130 m
Throw: 1,952 gr/ 4,256 yds / 3,904 m

Gauge

13 stitches X 9 rows for the stitch pattern = Approximately 4 inches x 4 inches.

Sizes

Approximately 5 inches (12.7 cm) tall and 50 inches (127 cm) wide.

Stitch Key

• Ch = Chain
• Dc = Double Crochet
• Sc = Single Crochet
• Tr = Treble Crochet

Notes

• This pattern uses pattern repeats
• Stitch multiple: this pattern is a stitch multiple of 6 
• Chain 1 to begin a new row does not count as stitches.

Instructions

Row 1 (RS): Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch here and throughout), hdc 1 in 1st st from hook, skip 1 st, hdc 1 in next st, hdc 1 in skipped st, *[skip 1 st, hdc 1 in next st, hdc 1 in skipped st ]* repeat from *to* until one before last stitch, hdc 1 in last stitch. (192 sts Throw – 97 hdc, 95 hdc crossed) (156 sts Laphgan – 79 hdc, 77 hdc crossed)

Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, turn, hdc 1 in 1st st from hook and across to end of row (192 sts Throw – 192 hdc) (156 sts Laphgan – 156 hdc)

Row 3 (RS): Ch 1, turn, hdc 1 in 1st st from hook and across to end of row (192 sts Trow – 192 hdc) (156 sts Laphgan – 156 hdc)

Row 4 (WS): Ch1, turn, sc 1 in 1st st from hook, tr in next st, *[sc 1 in next 2 st, tr 1 in next st]* repeat from *to* to last st. sc 1 in the last st  (192 Throw sts – 128 sc, 64 tr) (156 Laphgan sts – 104 sc, 52 tr)
