Who is Mariska from DIY Fluffies?
Fuffies, Amigurumi, sewing, and crocheting!
Mariska, in her own words
Hi, I’m Mariska Vos-Bolman, the designer behind DIY Fluffies. When my two boys are at school and my husband is at work, you’ll usually find me at home with my cat, creating cute toy patterns.
My creative journey began in 2001 after graduating from the Utrecht School of Arts. I worked for seven years as a 3D modeler at a game company, but eventually realized I wanted to take a different path. In 2008, I bought a sewing machine and discovered my love for designing soft toys. That passion led me to start DIY Fluffies, my toy pattern company.
One month after launching, I became pregnant with my first child, which meant my business had a slower start. But motherhood brought new inspiration—my boys are my biggest muses, always requesting new toys. My youngest even tries his hand at crochet, though patience for finishing projects is still a work in progress!
In 2015, I expanded from sewing into crochet and quickly fell in love with Amigurumi. I now design crochet patterns alongside sewing patterns, sharing my work in my online shop,my free patterns on my website and through my crochet books Amigurumi Made Easy and Mini Amigurumi Made easy. I also published two toy sewing patterns book, Sew Cute Creatures and Sew Cute to Cuddle.
I also run a DIY Fluffies YouTube channel, where I teach beginners how to crochet Amigurumi. One of my greatest joys is hearing from people who proudly say they made their very first Amigurumi with the help of my videos.
Beyond crafting, I love Japanese kawaii characters, playing Pokémon Go, and getting lost in a good book. I hope you enjoy creating your own toys from my designs as much as I enjoy designing them!
