Materials for Crochet Hair Scrunchie
You don’t need much to make these fun homemade hair scrunchies In fact, since you only need a little ball of yarn for each scrunchie, this pattern is a perfect stash-buster!
To get started, gather your supplies:
- 1 elastic hair band- the ones that do not pull your hair 🙂
- A small ball of worsted or aran or even bulky weight yarn.
- I used my favorite Cygnet chunky yarn – this actually a #5 weight yarn
- Yarn needle, scissors
How to make this Simple Crochet Hair Scrunchie:
Stitch Key
- Ch = Chain
- St = Stitch
- Sc = Single Crochet
- Slst = Slip stitch
Notes
- The pattern is worked in rounds
- Ch1 does not count as st at the beginning of each round
- This pattern uses pattern repeats.
- You can work this pattern with one color or multiple as you wish
- If changing colors make sure to have a changing technique and weave your ends in.

Instructions for the Simple Crochet Hair Scrunchie
Round 1: Depending on the size of your elastic hair band Sc1 around to cover the entire band and add at least 5 more to be sure it is all covered., Slst to 1st st to close the round
Then Round 2: Ch1, (Sc1 +Ch3+Sc1) in 1st st from hook, repeat on every st around, Slst to Ch1 at beginning of round.
Round 3: Ch4, Sc 1 in Ch3 space from prev round, Ch4, Sc1 in next Ch3 space and around to end of round, Slst to Ch1 at beginning
Finishing
Fasten off, cut your yarn, and weave in the ends
