Why a crochet snowflake applique? Every year around this time, I see so many of my lovely Christian crochet friends creating the sweetest winter decorations, and it always inspires me. I don’t celebrate Christmas myself, but I adore the cozy, peaceful feeling of the season, so I designed this little crochet snowflake appliqué as a way to share in that joy with all of you.
It’s quick, calming, and one of those small projects you can make while sipping something warm and watching the world slow down a bit.
A few scraps of yarn, a quiet moment, and suddenly you’ve got a delicate snowflake that’s perfect for adding a touch of winter magic wherever you like

How to Use This Crochet Snowflake Appliqué
You can use this snowflake in so many creative ways. Attach it to the front of a holiday card, sew it onto sweaters or blankets for a winter-inspired makeover, or let it shine on its own as a lightweight ornament.
It also works beautifully as an embellishment for bags, hats, and scarves when you want that handmade “frosted” touch without committing to a big project.
Another favorite way to use it is to string a few together into a garland or mobile. Because the snowflake is flat and sturdy, it blocks perfectly and keeps its shape, making it easy to hang.
You can also add a loop at one point of the star to turn it into a simple tag for gifts, especially if you love adding a bit of crochet charm to holiday wrapping.

Intermediate
Materials
- 100% Acrylic, 100gr, weight #4 yarn, in white
- Hook: 5 mm
- Yarn Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape
Gauge for my sample using the yarn I had

Sizes
This sample is 5.5”
Stitch Key
- Ch = Chain
- Sc = Single Crochet
- St = Stitch
- Dc = Double Crochet
- Tr = Treble Crochet
- Slst = Slip Stitch
- Yo = Yarn Over
Specialty Stitches
Picot = Ch 4 or 7 and Slst to top of last st

Notes
- This pattern uses US terminology
- The pattern is worked in rounds
- Ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as st
- Ch 3 at the beginning of the row does count as st

Ch 6, join with Slst to first ch to form a ring
Round 1: Ch-4 (counts as dc and ch-1), * dc 1 in ring, ch-1, repeat from * 10 times, join with Slst to top of ch-3 (12 dc)
Round 2: Ch 1, sc 1 in next ch-1 space, * ch-6, sc 1 in next ch-1 space, repeat from * 10 times, ch-3, join with dc to first sc.
Round 3: Ch 2, *dc 1 in next ch-6 space, Tr 1 in same space, Tr 1 +Picot (4 chains) in same ch space, tr 1 + dc 1 in same ch space, ch-2, sc in next ch-6 space , repeat from * to the end of the round, join with Slst to first sc.
