Hey crochet friends! 🌟
Welcome to the Winter Wardrobe Freeze-Along, a free 2026 winter crochet beanie CAL designed to help you bust through your yarn stash and stay cozy all season long!
Let’s be honest, we all have that “special” stash of worsted-weight yarn waiting for the perfect project.
Well, the wait is over. Starting January 6th, we’re turning those lonely skeins into a fresh collection of six stunning hats.
We’re moving fast to beat the frost, with new designs dropping every Tuesday and Friday throughout the month!
Join along on this CAL to make fun crochet projects, chat with other crocheters, and share your creations on the free FB Community

The Stash-Busting Challenge
The goal of the Winter Wardrobe Freeze-Along isn’t just to make new hats, it’s to clear out that beautiful yarn stash you’ve been saving! Since we are releasing six patterns in such a short window, I want to encourage you to get creative.
Don’t feel like you have to match my photos exactly. Mix your colors, play with textures, and let’s see how many “hidden gems” we can pull from your yarn bins!
What You’ll Need
To keep things simple and consistent across all six patterns, we are sticking to the basics:
- The Yarn: Weight #4 (Worsted/Aran). Dig out those partial balls and full skeins!
- The Hook: 5mm (H) crochet hook.
- The Extras: Tapestry needle, scissors, and your favorite poms (optional).
Creative Tip: If you have a #4 weight yarn that feels a bit thin, try pairing it with a different color for a marled look, or just focus on high-contrast stripes to give your “scrap” yarn a high-end designer feel.
How to Prep for Jan 6th
Before we start on Tuesday, take a few minutes this weekend to:
- Sort your #4 weight scraps by color.
- Check your 5mm hook (it always seems to be the one that goes missing!).
- Invite a friend! Stash-busting is always more fun when you can compare your “finds” with someone else.
