Materials
  • Any Aran weight #4 Cotton yarn
  • Hook: US H8 / 5.00 mm
  • Yarn Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape
Sizes
  • One size – measure depends on your yarn choice.  12 “ circumference  – 9”  height
Stitch Key
  • Ch = Chain,
  • Sc = Single Crochet,
  • Sl St = Slip Stitch,
  • Dc = Double crochet,
  • Flsc = Front loop Single Crochet

Notes
  • This pattern is worked in joined rounds from the bottom up. The height may be changed by adding or omitting rounds, and the strap length is up to your choice.

Instructions:

Ch 4, sl st to 1st ch to form a circle

R1: ch 1 (does not count as st), sc 8 in a circle, sl st to ch1 to close the round, sl st to ch1.

R2: Inc: ch 1 (does not count as st), sc 2 in 1st sc from prev round, sc 2 in next and to end of round sl st to ch1.

Now R3Inc: ch 1 (does not count as st), sc 2 in 1st sc from prev round, sc 1 in next st, sc 1 in next st, sc 2 in next st, repeat from * to *  to the end of round.sl st to ch1.

Continue with R4: Inc: ch 1 (does not count as st), dc 2 in 1st sc from prev round, *[dc 1 in next st, dc 1 in next st, dc 2 in next st]*, repeat from * to *  to the end of round.sl st to ch1.

And R5: Inc: ch 1 (does not count as st), dc 2 in 1st sc from prev round, *[dc 1 in next st, dc 1 in next st, dc 2 in next st]*, repeat from * to *  to the end of the round, sl st to ch1.


Let’s continue

Now we stop increasing and will have the same amount of stitches on each round to the end of work.

Next is R6: ch 1 (does not count as st), flsc1 in 1st st from prev round, flsc 1 in next st and around to end of round, sl st to ch1 to close the round

R 7- Ch 1 and turn your work- dc1 in 1st st from prev round, dc1 in next st and to end of round, sl st to ch 1 to close the round

And R 8: ch1 (does not count as st), sc1 in 1st st, sc1 in next st, repeat from * to * to the end of round and sl st to ch1 to close the round.

You can Repeat R7 +8 as many times as you want for desired height. I did 9 more repeats.


Handle/ Strap

ch1, sc3 in next 3 st , ch1 and turn your work, sc1 in 1st st, sc1 in next 2 st, ch1 and turn and so on until you have your desired length for the handle

My Sample has 50 rows for the handle.

Finish pattern slip stitching the handle to the opposite side of the Tote Bag, secure your yarn , cut and weave in your ends
